Custom Vinyl Toy & Sofubi Manufacturing

ITTAK manufactures slush-molded vinyl figures for character and designer-toy projects. Review the hollow form, intended material feel, part openings, decoration and assembly before confirming the production scope.

Product & service scope

Soft vinyl figures are often called sofubi or sofvi. For this service, the project path is slush molding: the intended hollow form and the way parts are released and assembled need a different review from solid resin casting or an injection-molded PVC part. Sofubi describes the product category here, not Japanese manufacturing origin.

Plan the specification

What to review before the quotation

Use these review topics to define the actual project. Specifications, processes, quantities, cost, timing and evaluation methods are agreed individually.

01

Silhouette and hollow form

Share front, side and rear views with the target size. Discuss openings, part separation, internal access and the surfaces that must preserve the character's appearance. The outside sculpt alone does not describe how a hollow figure will be produced and assembled.

02

Material feel and shape

Describe the intended softness, surface finish and how the product should hold its shape. Review the actual proposed material and representative samples. Do not assume every soft vinyl product has the same hardness, wall construction or behavior.

03

Colorways and decoration

Separate the base material color from painted detail, gradients or printed markings. List colorways and quantities independently so a shared sculpt is not mistaken for identical production work. Define the approved finish reference and the areas where color variation matters.

04

Openings, connections and pack-out

Review trimmed openings, fitted parts and the motion intended at each connection, if any. A turning head is not automatically a fully articulated figure system. Confirm the packed pose, contact points and protection of decorated surfaces.

Start with what you know

Prepare your project brief

You do not need every answer before the first conversation. Mark unknowns so confirmed requirements are separated from engineering decisions still to make.

  • Character views, target size and current sculpt data
  • Desired material feel, surface and shape-retention requirements
  • Proposed hollow parts, openings and connection points
  • Base colors, paint references and quantities per colorway
  • Accessories, assembly, packing and intended age group
  • Sales markets, quantity range and target timing

Before sharing designs

Begin with a non-confidential overview

Ask about an NDA and an appropriate transfer method before sending unreleased files. Identify the brand or character rights and the permission to use supplied artwork for manufacture.

Tell us whether you need product manufacturing or a mold-only project. We welcome worldwide inquiries, including English-speaking markets and Japan.

Buyer questions

Before you commission the project

Are vinyl toys and injection-molded PVC figures the same service?

Not necessarily. They may share PVC terminology but have different construction and manufacturing requirements. This page concerns slush-molded vinyl figures. Use the plastic figure page for a component-based injection-molded figure project.

Does sofubi mean the product is made in Japan?

This page uses sofubi as a soft-vinyl product term. ITTAK is based in Dongguan, China; the term is not a claim of Japanese origin. Manufacturing location and project responsibilities should be confirmed in the commercial scope.

Can one sculpt have multiple colorways?

Yes, variants can be reviewed. Provide the quantity and decoration brief for each version. Base colors, paint operations, approvals and packaging differences still need to be accounted for separately.

Will an existing resin sculpt work without changes?

That should not be assumed. A sculpt developed for another process may need changes to part openings, separation, connection geometry or other features. Review the slush-molding requirements before treating the original design as manufacturing-ready.

Broader services, permission-based project galleries

Our current public galleries show authorized KAIYODO / ARTPLA plastic model-kit projects. Those images are not reused as evidence for other product categories or processes. Relevant information may be shared only within client permissions and confidentiality requirements.
